About Steel Props
Steel props are steel load-bearing components used in construction/foundation projects to bear vertical/horizontal loads and control structural deformation. They are reusable, made of Q235/Q345 steel, and mainly divided into two categories: Adjustable Independent Steel Props (for formwork) and Large-Scale Foundation Steel Props (steel pipe/H-beam).
1. Adjustable Independent Steel Props (Scaffolding/Formwork Internal Support)
- Structure: Composed of outer tube + inner threaded tube + top plate/flat plate + base + handle nut, with adjustable height.
- Common Specifications: Pipe diameter Φ48/Φ60/Φ63, length 2.2m - 4.0m.
- Function: Vertical support for formwork systems, replacing traditional wooden squares. It features quick leveling and strong load-bearing capacity (single prop can bear several tons).
- Types: Lightweight (for civil buildings), Heavy-duty (for bridges/large workshops), and Special Steel Props for Aluminum Formwork.
- Surface Treatment: Painting, hot-dip galvanizing, and plastic spraying for corrosion resistance.
2. Foundation/Structural Steel Props
- Section: Steel pipe supports (Φ609, Φ800, etc.), H-beam/combined section steel supports.
- Arrangement: Opposite support, angle support, cross support, diagonal support.
- Application: Deep foundation pit support, tunnel initial support, and lateral force resistance of high-rise buildings.
- Technology: Prestress can be applied to control foundation pit deformation.

Core Scaffolding Parts (Classification + Function + Specifications)
Category | Main Parts | Function | Common Specifications |
Foundation Load-bearing | Standing Pole, Crossbar, Adjustable Base, Adjustable Top Plate (U-plate) | Form a load-bearing framework, transmit force to the ground, and fine-tune height | Standing Pole/Crossbar Φ48.3×3.6mm; Top Plate Stroke ≥300mm |
Connection & Fastening | Couplers (Right Angle/Rotary/Butt), Disk-Lock Nodes, Cup-Lock Nodes, Bolts | Fix all rods to ensure overall stability | Coupler material: Malleable Cast Iron; Bolt Torque: No damage at 65N・m |
Stability Enhancement | Diagonal Support, Scissor Support, Horizontal Diagonal Rod | Resist lateral force and wind load, prevent frame shaking | Angle: 45°-60°; Set every 3-4 bays |
Operational Safety | Steel Scaffold Plank, Toe Board, Guardrail, Safety Net | Provide operating platform, prevent falling and material dropping | Steel Plank Length: 2m/3m; Anti-slip Punching Design |
Key Part Details
- Couplers: The most versatile connectors. Right-angle couplers (cross-connect standing poles and crossbars), rotary couplers (connect diagonal rods), butt couplers (extend steel pipes).
- Disk-Lock Scaffold Parts: Standing poles with disks, crossbars/diagonal rods with lock head bolts. Features fast erection speed and high node stiffness.
- Scaffold Planks: Steel planks are the mainstream choice, with high strength, durability, and suitability for frequent turnover.
- Base/Top Plate: Adjustable base is used for leveling uneven ground; top plate supports formwork keel.
Selection & Quality Points
- Material: Main steel: Q235/Q345; Couplers comply with GB 15831 standard. Non-standard, rusted, or deformed parts are strictly prohibited.
- Compatibility: Pipe diameter and wall thickness must be uniform (e.g., Φ48.3mm system). Steel props must match the diameter of scaffolding to avoid node stress concentration.
- Surface Treatment: For damp construction sites, hot-dip galvanized steel props and parts are preferred, with a service life far superior to ordinary painted products.
- Inspection: Each batch must be accompanied by a certificate of conformity and material report. Key parts are sampled to test load-bearing capacity and torque.
Surface Treatment Options
- Hot-Dip Galvanizing: Suitable for heavy-duty steel props (e.g., 7660/7663 models). Galvanized layer ≥0.4mm, excellent corrosion resistance, not easy to rust.
- Electro-Galvanizing: Galvanized layer ≈0.1mm, poor corrosion resistance, easy to rust.
- Pre-Galvanizing: Optional for specific project needs.
- Paint Coating: Cost-effective, available in custom colors.
Special Customization
- 4860 Model: Cup-type design available, suitable for Chinese, Middle Eastern, and African markets.
- 4048/4856 Models: Only available in cup-type design.
Application Scenarios
- Formwork Engineering: Mainly uses adjustable independent steel props, combined with cup-lock/disk-lock scaffolding for full-house support.
- Exterior Wall/High-Altitude Operations: Mainly uses coupler-type/disk-lock scaffolding, emphasizing safety protection.
- Deep Foundation Pits: Large-scale steel pipe/H-beam steel props (often prestressed) are used to form a foundation pit support system.
