Introduction to plywood

Plywood is actually a type of board that is bonded with an adhesive. The front side of plywood is called the "face" and the back side is called the "back". The middle is called the "core". Usually, the core is made by cutting the wood into thin slices, and then gluing the slices together layer by layer in the direction of the wood grain, after which the panels and inner plies are placed symmetrically on both sides of the core or in the center, and then the glued veneers are stacked in the direction of the wood grain to form the board, and then pressed by heating. Plywood is one of the common materials used in furniture, and is one of the three major man-made boards. It is a three-layer or multi-layer board material made by rotary-cutting wood segments into veneers or thin wood planed from wood squares, and then glued together with adhesive, usually with an odd number of veneers, and the fiber directions of adjacent veneers are glued perpendicular to each other.

Uses of plywood
It is mainly used in furniture manufacturing, interior decoration, and various panels for residential construction. Next are industrial sectors such as shipbuilding, trunk manufacturing, various military and light industrial products, and packaging. Plywood specification thickness
Plywood is made up of a number of thin pieces of wood, three plywood, five plywood, etc., and occasionally an odd number. Plywood specifications are generally 2440MM in length and 1220MM in width, and the thickness of plywood varies according to the combination of different plies, generally there are several specifications, such as 3%, 5%, 9%, 12%, 15%, 18%, etc. Of course, there are other thicknesses according to special circumstances.

Advantages of plywood
It can make reasonable use of logs and does not produce sawdust. Light weight, high strength, beautiful texture, insulation, small deformation, easy construction, no warping, good tensile strength of cross grain. Because plywood is bonded together by some thin skins, these sheets also form a right-angle structure, and it is known that the strength of a right-angle structure will be superior and not easy to crack or bend.
Disadvantages of plywood
Higher cost of construction, not as clean as the surface of the density board. It is difficult to adjust the external force when the plywood is not sufficiently dried or the production process is faulty, resulting in deformation. The surface of plywood is not as smooth as density board and solid wood board, so it is often not used for window fronts. Plywood because of the use of multi-layer thin board bonded together, so if the plywood layering is not well bonded, easy to become wet with plywood as the base, the surface and then bonded to the fire board, aluminum and other veneer panels, not as strong as the MDF base.

Types of plywood
A classification
1. Plywood for decoration: This kind of plywood is mainly used for furniture, sewing machine table board and various electrical appliance shells and other products which need to be coated with transparent paint on the surface.
2、Finishing plywood: This kind of plywood is mainly used as finishing materials for buildings, furniture, vehicles and ships.
3、General plywood: This kind of plywood is suitable for packaging, lining and other uses.
4、Thin wood decorative plywood: This kind of plywood is mainly used as advanced decorative materials for buildings, furniture, vehicles and ships.
Two kinds of classification
1, a class of plywood for weather-resistant, boiling water-resistant plywood, with high temperature resistance, steam treatment and other advantages.
2, Class II plywood is water-resistant plywood, which can be impregnated in cold water and hot water for a short time.
3、Three types of plywood are moisture-resistant plywood, which can be impregnated in cold water for a short time, suitable for indoor use at room temperature, used for furniture and general construction purposes.
4, four types of limb plywood is not moisture-resistant plywood, can be used indoors under normal conditions, general purpose plywood with beech, basswood, ash, birch, elm, poplar, etc.
