All kinds of wood can be used to produce OSB, but the OSB produced by different tree species will have differences in various properties. From the physical properties, in the case of the same compression ratio, the physical properties of OSB made from wood with small density are better than those produced from wood with large density; from the material of tree species, the particle form made from wood with fine fiber is better than that made from wood with coarse fiber, especially those made from harder material and with coarse fiber, such as Quercus serrata, Ashwagandha, Robinia pseudoacacia, etc. in the northeast; in the chipping process and particle conveying process, most of the particle will be broken into needle shape, so the particle will not only increase the number of needles, but will also increase the number of needles. In the process of chipping and particle transportation, most of the shavings will be broken into needles, such shavings will not only increase the amount of sizing, but also have an impact on the performance of the board. Therefore, it is generally recommended to choose tree species with relatively low density, fine wood fiber and strong toughness, with a diameter of 60 mm or more, preferably a single species.
Log peeling: commonly used peeling machine there are two kinds of roller type peeling machine and hobbing type peeling machine. Rolling simple peeling machine volume is larger, the noise is also larger, but this peeling machine has a wide range of applications, can be used for various species of various specifications of wood peeling, and the material requirements are not high. Hobbing type peeling machine volume is small, the noise is relatively low, but this peeling machine on the quality of wood requirements are high, generally only suitable for diameter level, small curvature, less knots of raw materials.

Planer:Generally choose the long material planer, the quality of the shavings will have a greater impact on the quality of OSB. Experiments show that the static bending strength of the board will increase with the increase in the length of shavings face (but when increased to a certain length, the increase in the performance of the board is not obvious), will decrease with the increase in the thickness of the shavings, the width of the shavings has little effect on the board. The theoretical length-thickness ratio of shavings is generally between 100~150, and it is about 200 in the actual production process; the length-width ratio is generally between 5~15, and the width is generally 20 mm in the actual production.
If the wood raw material is small, you can also choose two-stage planer, which can process the small wood or even the boards of the processing plant, various specifications of the old wood into qualified shavings.
Drying: generally choose single-channel rolling simple dryer, drying medium is mostly used hot flue gas, after drying the water content requirements in 2% ~ 4%.
Screening: Screening is divided into two kinds of mechanical screening and airflow screening. Mechanical screening equipment has a variety of horizontal swing sieve, vibrating screen, circular swing sieve, round simple sieve and grading sieve (also known as power roller sieve). The commonly used ones are circular swing screen and roller screen.
