Specification and application of plywood

Plywood, commonly known as plywood, is a three-layer or multilayer (usually odd layers) board like material that is cut by logs, peeled or planed into large sheets (veneer) along the growth rings, dried, jointed, glued, hot pressed and glued according to the principle of symmetry.

Plywood specification
The paper size mainly includes (width × Length): 1220mm in general × 2440mm;
According to the customer's requirements, the following dimensions can also be made: 915mm × 1830mm、915mm × 2135mm、1220mm × 1830mm、220mm × 2440mm

Thickness specifications mainly include: 2.7mm, 3.0mm, 4mm, 5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, etc. (after 8mm, increase by 1mm).

Generally, 3-ply plywood is 2.7-4mm;
5-12mm for the fifth floor;
9-18mm for 7-9 ply plywood;
The 11 ply plywood is 12-30mm, etc.

Plywood application
2.7/3.0mm: in decoration, it is mainly pasted on blockboard for mixing paint and other processes. The board surface shall be flat with good adhesion.
5.0/9.0 mm: it can be used as the base plate or back plate of furniture, and 9 mm can also be used as the base plate of door jambs and window jambs, as well as the skirting line and some shapes.
12/15/18mm: it can be directly used for making furniture, etc.

1. Solid wood board

As the name implies, solid wood board is the wood board made of complete wood in the classification of boards. These boards are solid and durable, with natural lines, and are the best choice for decoration. However, due to the high cost of such plates and the high requirements for construction technology, they are not used much in decoration. Solid wood boards are generally classified according to the material name of the board, and there is no unified standard specification.

2. Splint

Plywood, also known as plywood, is commonly known as thin core board in the industry. It is made of three or more layers of one millimeter thick veneer or sheet glued and hot pressed. It is the most commonly used panel classification of handmade furniture at present. Plywood is generally divided into six specifications: 3cm, 5cm, 9cm, 12cm, 15cm and 18cm (1cm is 1mm).

3. Decorative panel

Decorative panel, commonly known as panel. It is a decorative board with single-sided decorative function, which is made by precisely planing solid wood boards into thin veneer with a thickness of about 0.2mm, using plywood as the base material, and through the adhesive process. It is a special way for splints to exist, with a thickness of 3 cm. Decorative panel is a kind of advanced decoration material different from oil mixing method at present.

4. Blockboard

Blockboard, commonly known as big core board in the industry. The large core board is formed by bonding and pressing the splicing boards between two veneers. The price of large core plate is cheaper than that of thin core plate, which is a relatively cheap classification of plates. Its vertical (based on the core material trend) bending and compression strength is poor, but its horizontal bending and compression strength is high.

5. Particleboard

Particleboard is a thin board made of wood chips as the main raw materials, then infiltrated with glue and additives. According to the pressing method, it can be divided into two categories: extruded particle board and flat pressed particle board. The main advantage of such plates is that they are extremely cheap. Its disadvantage is also obvious: poor strength. Generally, it is not suitable to make large furniture or furniture with mechanical requirements.

6. Density board

Density board, also called fiberboard. It is a man-made board made of wood fiber or other plant fibers and applied with urea formaldehyde resin or other applicable adhesives. The board is classified into high-density board, medium density board and low-density board according to its density. The density board is soft and impact resistant, so it is easy to reprocess. In foreign countries, density board is a good material for making furniture, but because the national standard for height board is several times lower than the international standard, the use quality of density board in China needs to be improved.

7. Fireproof board

Fireproof board is a decorative board made of silica or calcium materials as the main raw materials, mixed with a certain proportion of fiber materials, lightweight aggregates, adhesives and chemical additives, and autoclaved. It is a new type of material used more and more at present, and its use is not only due to fire prevention factors. The construction of fireproof board requires high glue, and the price of fireproof board with good quality is more expensive than that of decorative panel. The thickness of fireproof board is generally 0.8mm, 1mm and 1.2mm.

8. Melamine board

Melamine board, full name is melamine impregnated plastic film paper facing wood-based panel. It is a decorative board made of paper with different colors or textures soaked in melamine resin adhesive, dried to a certain degree of curing, paved on the surface of chipboard, medium density fiberboard or hardboard, and hot pressed. Melamine board is a kind of wall decoration material. At present, some people use melamine board to fake composite floor for floor decoration, which is inappropriate
