A Little of Plywood Knowledge
Plywood is one of the commonly used materials for furniture, which is one of the three major wood-based panels. It is a three-layer or multilayer board like material formed by spinning wood segments into veneer or wood planing into veneer, and then gluing with adhesives. It is usually made of odd number of layers of veneer, and the fiber direction of adjacent layers of veneer is perpendicular to each other.
Use of plywood
It is mainly used in furniture manufacturing, interior decoration and various plates for residential buildings. The second is shipbuilding, car box manufacturing, various military, light industrial products, packaging and other industrial sectors.
Plywood specification and thickness

Plywood is composed of some thin pieces of wood, including plywood, five plywood, and so on. Occasionally, there are odd numbers. The splint is generally 2440MM long and 1220MM wide. According to the combination of different laminates, the thickness of plywood is also different. Generally, there are 3 cm, 5 cm, 9 cm, 12 cm, 15 cm and 18 cm plywood. Of course, there are other thicknesses according to special circumstances.
Advantages and disadvantages of plywood
Advantages of plywood
It can make rational use of logs without sawdust. Light unit weight, high strength, beautiful texture, insulation, small deformation, convenient construction, no warping, and good tensile resistance across the grain.
Disadvantages of plywood
High cost, not as smooth as density board surface. It is difficult to adjust the external force when the plate is deformed due to insufficient drying or production process problems. When plywood is used as the base course and fire-proof board, aluminum plastic board and other facing plates are bonded on the surface, it is not as firm as the medium density board as the base course.
Plywood, also known as plywood, refers to the process of planing logs into chips about 1mm thick for each layer. After fully air dried, add glue, compact it with special mechanical equipment, paste decorative texture and good surface course on both sides, and cut it into decorative plates of a specified specification.
Advantages and disadvantages of splint
The hardness of the plywood is generally high. Since the materials and textures have been vertically interlaced during the gluing process, the plywood has high strength and is not easy to deform.
According to the number of layers, plywood can be divided into three plywood, five plywood, nine plywood, twelve plywood, eighteen plywood and other varieties. Three plywood and five plywood are most commonly used in decoration, which is commonly referred to as three plywood and five plywood. The more layers, the greater the thickness, the higher the strength, and the stronger the bearing capacity of the plywood, the more difficult it is to bend. Plywood is mostly used in high-grade decorative base structure. It is suitable for installing and fixing decorative parts with large load.
Of course, the plywood also has its own shortcomings, that is, the general cost is high; If the material is not fully dried or the production process has problems, it is difficult to adjust the external force when the plate is deformed; In addition, the plywood surface is not as smooth as the density board surface. When the plywood is used as the base course, and the surface is bonded with fire-proof board, aluminum plastic board and other facing plates, it is not as solid as the medium density board as the base course.
Splint specification
The most commonly used plywood specification in decoration is 1220mm × 2440 mm. How to select splints
It is not difficult to select splints, which can be considered from the following directions:
1. Pay attention to the panel quality. In the market, the imported willow eucalyptus plywood is used in a large amount of decoration. It is called "printed board" imported from Indonesia and "horse board" imported from Malaysia. The quality of "printing board" is better than that of "horse board", and the price of each board is also two or three yuan more expensive. When selecting the panel, you must pay attention to whether it is willow eucalyptus wood or other hard miscellaneous wood. Compared with willow eucalyptus noodles, it is better to use imported willow eucalyptus veneer.
2. Pay attention to the material of the inner interlayer. Generally, the inner layer of plywood is mostly miscellaneous wood. It is better to use high-quality materials such as Liuxiao, and pay attention to whether the section is smooth, whether there is glue opening and bubbling between the layers, and whether there is a large gap in the core plate.
3. Pay attention to the appearance of the whole board. The whole plywood with good quality shall be free from warping, deformation and cracking. The edges are straight, the wall thickness is substantial, and the size is standard. The surface color is consistent, without scar, splicing, miscellaneous spot, wormhole, bruise, stain, defect and repair.
4. Pay attention to the grade. At present, the imported willow plywood on the market is mainly BB and CC grade, while AA grade is rare. We should be wary of some operators passing off the joint venture board with better quality as the import board, or passing off the low-grade board as the high-grade board. In fact, you can identify it by looking carefully at the outer package. Generally, the outer package of imported plywood is printed with an import mark, indicating the origin of import in English: Indonesia, Malaysia, etc
